The Fortress on the hill

Back to our travels in France.

One more village left to tell you about.

For those of you who have not read my previous blogs, here is a quick re-cap of the day.

Steve, Jade, Sienna and I left the villa rental promptly at 9am. Mum decided to stay as the day involved a lot of walking up villages
Beautiful countryside on the way

Breakfast stop with a view. Most cafe’s in France do not sell croissants but allow you to go to the bakery and get them. This provides business to their local bakery.

First stop was Bruniquel. The village we had to walk up to reach the chateau with the view of the river.

Then we headed to Puycelsi where we had a coffee after our long walk up Bruniquel. Luckily, we could drive to the top of this village.

As all the streets led to an open view, there were birds flying through them.

We went on to Castelnau de Montmiral to have lunch where we always do.

On to Cordes sur Ciel where we took a mini train up to the top.

And we finally ended our medieval adventure day trip in Najac. It has one street which leads to The Fortress on the hill,  Le Chateau de Najac where the Knights Templar were once imprisoned.
